The financial realities for ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), families in Central Florida mean the joy of a new baby can be overshadowed by overwhelming costs.
These families are already living paycheck to paycheck and are often just one emergency expense away from financial disaster. The soaring costs of a baby’s first year, now exceed $20,000 according to the BabyCenter State of Childcare in the U.S. Study of 2,217 women in July 2023.
We are deeply invested in the well-being of our youngest community members and recognizing this critical need, we are expanding our commitment to new families! For the very first time, we’re thrilled to host not one, but three community baby showers, reaching expecting and new parents in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola Counties.
These annual events are designed to be a vital safety net for expecting and new parents. Each attendee will receive at least $200 of essential items, resources, and information– helping them lay a solid foundation for their newborns.
But we could not make this possible without our donors and volunteers.
That’s why we need your help to support our Central Florida families. Here’s how you can join us in making a difference:
Participate in the Basics for Baby Collection Drive: We need your help collecting diapers, wipes, and formula for our Community Baby Shower families. Collect your items and coordinate a drop off time with a member of our Volunteer Resource Center, so we can give them to families in need.
Make a Donation: Every dollar counts in setting up our community’s little ones for success.
Roll Up Your Sleeves and Volunteer: We’re looking for volunteers to help us prepare for our upcoming Community Baby Shower. Volunteer opportunities include:
🤱 Blanket Making Party:
Join fellow volunteers to work in small groups as we make blankets for Community Baby Shower. These no-sew fleece blankets are beginner and family friendly!
