Being healthy is the backbone to living a better life. Regular medical care can help reduce school absenteeism, job loss, medical treatment costs and, ultimately, poverty. However, for ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) families, the cost for preventative and ongoing healthcare can prove too much for an already overburdened budget.
At United Way, we have a high-level view of the most critical issues in our community. We invest in strategic partnerships that address the multitude of barriers that can keep a family from accessing physical and mental healthcare. By focusing on the whole picture, we are meeting the immediate and long term needs of ALICE households.
Our Health Programs
One of the programs we support is the Ryan White program which serves HIV/AIDS patients through Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Brevard Counties.
United Way offers SingleCare, a prescription medication discount card. On average, the card gives a savings of up to 80%. There is no enrollment form or special requirements; simply show your card to the pharmacist when filling a prescription.

Help Me Grow is a unique program that addresses the need for early identification of developmental and/or behavioral concerns, and then to links children and their families to community-based services and supports.
