Every student deserves the opportunity to learn. The reality is that far too often, a student’s zip code and family circumstances determine their future. It can make it harder for them to reach their potential and that creates a ripple effect throughout the community. Statistics show students in poverty are 5x more likely to drop out of high school – Community Schools aim to change that.
Community Schools reduce barriers to learning—poverty, food insecurity, homelessness, and others – by bringing together high-quality academic supports, health care, resources, counseling, mentoring, and more right at the school. The model helps provide learning environments that offer equitable opportunities for success for all students.
