Vivian was so excited by the birth of her first child, Bianca. However, by the age of 18-months-old, Bianca had not yet reached a critical milestone for most children her age: talking. Concerned about her daughter’s development, Vivian decided to reach out for help. Help Me Grow, a program at United Way that helps parents and guardians identify developmental delays and connect them with community resources, did an assessment of Bianca. It was determined that Bianca did have a speech delay. Help Me Grow helped Vivian connect with community resources and programs to help her daughter develop her communication skills. Bianca has shown great progress, already beginning to form full sentences after a month of speech therapy.
