Each year, Heart of Florida United Way hosts key events that support our mission. From the elegant Chef’s Gala to United Way Day of Caring – the region’s single largest volunteer event – these events help alleviate critical needs in Central Florida. They also offer ways for businesses and individuals to get involved and make a difference.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, 46% of households in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties live on the verge of a financial disaster and find it difficult to make ends meet. Many have a hard time covering their basic needs, as the cost of living outpaces their earnings.
You know ALICE. You see them every day. They are your neighbors, the childcare worker at your daycare, the cashier at your supermarket, office clerks, waiters and waitresses, and others. They are essential, yet they struggle to survive. For ALICE, it only takes one unexpected situation, such as a medical bill or car repair, to push their family into financial crisis. COVID-19 became that crisis for so many in our community. As an essential community leader, thank you for joining us in our fight to support the ALICE population in Central Florida.
