To assist people caught up in Central Florida’s growing foreclosure crisis, United Way and WMFE partnered to host free educational forums across the tri-county region, where an estimated one in every 101 homes is in some stage of mortgage default or bank repossession.
Designed to help local residents avoid foreclosure or navigate the process more effectively, the forums included a panel discussion and question and answer session with experts from:
- U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
- Consumer Credit Counseling Service
- Banking/lending industry
- Legal services
Discussion included:
- How to avoid foreclosure and mortgage scams
- Free programs, resources and tips to help homeowners
- Best steps to take if you are in foreclosure
- A question and answer session
