More than 1,000 Lockheed Martin employees, above, hosted a huge Days of Caring project benefiting Edgewood Children’s Ranch. As the biggest group taking part in this year's event, they helped make it the largest and most successful Days of Caring ever. Special thanks to Macbeth Photography for the aerial shot. |
United Way Days of Caring - Our Biggest Success Ever!
From celebrity athletes and media personalities to corporate CEOs and theme park associates, more than 2,000 local volunteers turned out for United Way Days of Caring, making it the largest and most successful ever.
In all, 72 projects were hosted, all of which supported United Way's strategic efforts to improve lives and build a stronger, healthier community. Although most took place on Friday, Sept. 23, the biggest project wrapped on Oct. 22, when more than 1,000 Lockheed Martin employees spruced up the grounds and facilities at Edgewood Children's Ranch.
Focus on Education
In keeping with United Way's focus on education, several new projects were held this year at Catalina, Palmetto and Richmond Heights elementary schools, where United Way and other local partners recently launched the Interfaith School Turnaround Project to boost school and educational achievement.
Nearly 180 volunteers from the Orlando Magic, as well as representatives from Mix 105.1 FM, SunTrust and Universal Orlando teamed up at the schools to read with children, play educational games, paint outdoor murals and beautify the landscaping.
Many Thanks
In addition to the generous partners mentioned above, United Way would like to thank Publix, Bank of America, Ernst & Young, Fifth Third Bank, HD Supply, Enterprise Holdings, WFTV 9, UPS and many other companies who helped make Days of Caring a tremendous success.
